The Dream Maker
The Dream Maker Drum
16" Rosewood Hoop | Fallow Deer Stag Rawhide | Handcrafted in the Welsh Borderlands
The Dream Maker
"Some dreams arrive while we sleep. Others arrive through rhythm."
Born from the hide of a wild fallow deer who once wandered the ancient woodlands of the Welsh and Herefordshire borderlands, she is stretched across a 16-inch rosewood hoop, becoming a meeting place between earth and sky, memory and imagination, waking and dreaming.
On her face rests a great crescent moon.
For countless generations the moon has been honoured as the keeper of instinct, mystery and the unseen. She does not illuminate everything at once, but offers just enough light for the next step. She reminds us that we do not need to know the whole path before we begin walking.
Flowing around her are two intertwined bronze serpents. Across many ancient traditions, the serpent is one of the oldest symbols of transformation. By shedding its skin, it teaches us that growth is rarely about becoming someone new, but about releasing what no longer belongs to us. The twin serpents weave together like the meeting of worlds, guardians of the threshold between what has been and what is yet to come.
Nestled beside the moon rests a single feather. A messenger of the unseen.
Feathers have long been carried in ceremony as symbols of prayer, inspiration and the quiet conversations that take place beyond words. Here it reminds us that dreams often arrive softly, asking not to be chased, but listened to.
Hidden on the reverse is her Triskele handle.
Far more than decoration, the Triskele is one of the oldest sacred symbols found across these lands. Long before written history, our ancestors carved spirals into stone to honour the great cycles of existence. Birth, death and rebirth. Earth, sea and sky. Past, present and future.
It reminds us that nothing in nature moves in straight lines. The seasons spiral, the moon spirals and Life itself unfolds in circles rather than endings.
As you hold this drum, your hand naturally rests within this ancient spiral, becoming part of that timeless rhythm. The Triskele becomes the point where your own heartbeat meets the heartbeat of the drum.
Perhaps that is why she became known as The Dream Maker, for dreams rarely travel in straight lines either.
They spiral through memory, myth, intuition and imagination, returning us to parts of ourselves that have been patiently waiting to be remembered.
Every drum I create begins not with materials, but with relationship. The deer is never simply a hide nor the tree is never simply timber.
Each being is honoured throughout the making, allowing their story to continue rather than end. Every mark, every stitch and every breath of the process is an act of gratitude for the life that came before.
No two drums are ever alike, because no two beings have ever walked the same path.
May The Dream Maker become a companion for those who seek to journey beyond the ordinary, to listen more deeply than they speak, and to remember that some of our greatest wisdom is found not by searching harder, but by surrendering to the ancient rhythms that have always carried us
